  • Moog fulfills their warranty through their individual dealers. That means that in order to receive warranty support, you will have to refer back to the original dealer you purchased the part from. Be sure to check the dealer's warranty support before you buy the part to make sure that they will properly support the warranty. If a dealer will only refer you back to the manufacturer in order to receive warranty support, then you may not actually have any warranty at all.

    WARRANTY:

Moog Premium Steering Components carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Moog R-Series Control Arms, Hub Assemblies, and Strut Assemblies carry a 3 Year Warranty.

Moog warranties their parts to be free of defects in materials and/or workmanship during these timeframes as measured from the date of purchase.

If a Moog part should fail due to materials or manufacturing defect while under warranty, we will provide a replacement of the part upon return of the defective part.

Rear Passenger Side Knuckle Assembly for Explorer and Mountaineer, 2002-2005

With Pre-Installed Wheel Bearing

If your 02-05 Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer wheel bearings are emitting a growling, grinding noise or you are getting some vibration, especially while turning, you may need to get your bearings replaced. The press-in bearings on the 02-05 Explorer or Mountaineer are notoriously hard to replace. Luckily, the folks at Moog know this and have manufactured a simple solution: Get a high-quality Complete Knuckle Assembly, with a new pre-installed wheel bearing, and replace the entire knuckle assembly in about half the normal time. Whether you have hit the recommended 100K mile replacement mark or your bearing is rusted into the hub, the complete knuckle assembly is a fast and easy option for wheel bearing replacement.

This bolt-on solution from Moog comes pre-assembled which guarantees that every part is not only compatible but designed to work together. We here at DST are excited about the easy installation which allows you to save money on labor since neither a hub puller or a press is required. If you're crazy about DIY you could replace the knuckle using hand tools you probably have in your garage. Plus you gain the peace of mind knowing your Explorer or Mountaineer is riding on Moog parts; the official steering and suspension of Nascar.

If you need to replace the rear passenger side wheel bearing there's a good chance that the driver side isn't far behind. Check out the driver side complete knuckle assembly for your Explorer or Mountaineer.

Pre-Installed National Wheel Bearing

Pressing the rear bearing of a '02 Explorer out of the knuckle is a fantastic show. If you ever wanted to see a 30-ton industrial press 'jump' ask a mechanic if you can watch the process and you might get your wish. It also does an impressive job of impersonating the sound of a 50 caliber rifle firing when the bearing finally let's go.

To save effort, and your nerves, a premium National Bearing comes pre-installed in this complete knuckle assembly by the professionals at Moog. Without the hassle of pressing the bearings out and in, the entire replacement process takes about 50% less time to complete. The threads on your axle nut deform when you torque it down and again when it's removed. Make sure you use the new axle nut and locking ring provided with the knuckle assembly.

Wheel Hub with Studs

With this Knuckle Assembly not only is your new bearing installed in half the time you can also rest assured knowing that you have a new, premium Moog Wheel Hub replacing that old OEM.

You know that moment when you're changing a tire in the middle of nowhere and the lugs are almost welded to the stud with rust? Have you ever had the dubious pleasure of actually torquing a stud off of the wheel hub? If you have experienced this pain then you'll really appreciate the protective coating that shields these wheel studs from rust-causing contaminates, giving you a pleasant tire changing experience down the road. The only downside is you won't have a horror story to tell your friends.

Knuckle and Backing Plate

The Moog knuckle and backing plate are both finished with a corrosion resistant E-coat, which comes in handy when the roads are salted during those infrequent ice storms here in Stephenville, TX. The E-coat provides a protective layer that covers even those hard-to-reach spots on your knuckle and keeps moisture and contaminants from taking hold. These parts are designed to keep your Explorer or Mountaineer riding smoothly for the next 100K miles.

As a side note for the Explorer, while you have the knuckle off make sure you check the Upper Control Arm Ball Joint as these can sometimes fail around 100K miles
