Dependable Performance, Dependable Coverage

Energy Suspension crafts each of their trailing arm bushings with Hyperflex polyurethane, a material much more durable than rubber that can handle the intense weight, heat, and pressure. But increased durability isn't the only thing Energy Suspension offers. Hyperflex polyurethane is also firmer than rubber. This sturdiness increases your trailing arm's effectiveness. Now, this sturdiness also slightly increases your NVH, but the added safety and longevity are well worth the trade-off. Plus, all of energy's trailing arm bushings are covered by a two-year warranty handled in-house here at DST.

Energy Suspension Trailing Arm Bushings

Designed to connect your chassis, rear axle, and shocks, trailing arms have to support tons (literally) of weight and pressure. Used at the arm's primary mounting points, your OE trailing arm bushings also have to bear this weight. Unfortunately, your OE trailing arm bushings are made of a soft rubber that's prone to cracking and falling away. With Energy's Hyperflex polyurethane trailing arm bushings installed, you will have peace of mind knowing that your suspension is performing better than ever.

starstarstarstarstar" Excellant "

I own a Focus wagon. Most other sites stated their parts did not fit the wagon. I called and talked to a customer service representative and they were honest with me. There was nothing in their liturature that said it would not fit a wagon. I purchased the parts and installed them myself. The most difficult part of the installation was making a threaded device to press the new bushing in place. I am very pleased with both the service provided and the parts.

starstarstarstarstar" Excellent, once theyre in... "

These were not the first set of Energy Suspension trailing arm bushes I’ve bought and fitted myself (first set were on a Honda Civic) so I knew I had to be prepared for a bit of a fight in getting them in place without using a hydraulic press. What I wasn't prepared for was that Ford neglected to lubricate/anti seize any of the original bushings meaning that all but 1 of the suspension bolts was completely stuck, leading me to a stressful and expensive couple of days! Something I did learn during the course of this job and by searching the internet is that on the Focus all the rear suspension bushes will be (unless you live in a desert) seized in place. If I had to do this job again I would remove the entire rear sub frame (6 bolts & the brake pipes) to save the grief of having to cut out and replace every other suspension arm and bush at the rear of the car. Dropping the sub frame would have saved me several hours of angle grinding seized suspension arms & bolts and around £600 on new suspension arms. Once the arm was out fitting the lubed bush into the outer arm shell was easy and I was able to do this by hand on both side. The challenging bit of fitting this bush was fitting the Pin through the middle. Whilst the instructions state that any chamfers or burrs should be removed, in reality this meant using an angle grinder to smooth the corners of the Pin that surround the bolt holes, not something I would attempt using a file or a Dremmel. Then it was a case of securing the trailing arm in a vice and beating (using a rubber dead blow hammer) the lubed pin until it was through enough to work by hand. A four wheel alignment is also required once replacing these parts. The Energy Suspension bushes coupled with the rest of the rear suspension being renewed have given the car a much improved feel and road holding. The rear of the car does sit slightly higher, although this is due the fact the original Ford trailing arm bushes had collapsed and it now sits where it is supposed to. Definitely an improvement worth doing, remember to do your homework before hand to save yourself unexpected grief in fitting or a large garage bill if you have someone else do it for you and they hit the same issues with seized suspension arms!
