Rear Differential Bushings 1997-2003 Subaru Outback
Polyurethane Rear Differential Bushings from SuperPro can give a performance boost to the '97-'03 Outback, '08-'11 Impreza WRX, or '14-'15 Forester by replacing the original soft rubber differential bushings. Providing a stronger connection between the differential and the subframe, these polyurethane bushings will eliminate clunking, reduce the chance of wheel hop, and ensure the differential maintains it's alignment.
The Cause of Clunking
If you're hearing a clunking noise from the back of your Subaru then there are a few possibilities of what could be happening. If the noise is accompanied by vibration when accelerating or decelerating then it's a good bet your differential bushings are shot.
The rubber bushings that hold your differential take a lot of punishment, especially if you like to push your Subaru or have a rough commute. Even some of the caliche driveways we use every day around Stephenville can be a long and bumpy affair, especially after a big rain washes them out. Wear, heat, road grime, or salt can begin degrading those vulnerable rubber bushings and this can allow the differential to jump when accelerating and breaking.
The SuperPro Solution
Even rubber bushings that aren't degraded still allow a lot of deflection during sudden acceleration. If hard launches from the stop light leave your back wheels losing and gaining traction rapidly (wheel hop) then the differential bushings are probably to blame. If this, or the clunking noise, is a common problem for you then the answer is firmer differential bushings.
SuperPro manufactures a set of Polyurethane Differential Bushings for the 97-03 Subaru Outback which will drastically reduce deflection when you hammer the gas or the brakes, meaning better performance and safety. Besides providing better performance these bushings are basically under warranty to last forever. SuperPro even goes the extra mile and covers parts used in off-road and racing applications, which is not something every bushing manufacturer does.
