Driving fast takes a toll
Traveling at high speeds is probably the main reason you bought your LX vehicle right? Of course it is! When it comes to your suspension though, the problem with high speeds is the impact the rubber bushings take when you hit a bump or dip in the road. With factory rubber bushings installed on these high horsepower vehicles, you're just asking for trouble, take it from us at DST.
The rubber is failing
The rubber front control arm bushings on these vehicles aren't holding up very well with these higher horsepower vehicles. Anytime a control arm bushing cracks or distorts the geometry of the suspension changes, throwing off the alignment, decreasing braking efficiency and negatively affecting the handling performance. These models are reporting early bushing failures, especially with the police interceptors. The front radius arm bushings on the police cars are blowing out in as little as 15000 miles. Im putting 4 stars not because of ride and handling quality but because of the installation difficulties. I couldnt get the rear shock mount controll arm bushing at the subframe install with out it trying to separate again, its seems that you have to cut some of the old metal case off about 2mm to 3mm for the bushings to seat properly but as always i didnt have cut off discs so i shaved the bushing and heated up the metal case red hot and pressed it together and melted and made it fit. I then removed the bushing and put construction adhesive into the inner parts and re installed. Then the upper controll arms bushing were a bit wider then the fender apron so it was not easy but some grease and a 2x4 block of wood made it work. Pain in the ass honestly but i put them on at 140,000km roughly and my hemi now has 235,000km and they are still good even the upper balljoints are tight. So overall definitely worth it. I have poly diff bushing, trying to find a rear poly bushing suspension set.\n\n
