Be honest, when you purchased your BMW, you were hoping to impress your friends, not make them barf. The original rear cross member on these BMW 1 and 3 series has heavily voided factory mounts. The voids in the stock mounts have been known to cause so much excess lateral cross member movement that passenger motion sickness has become an issue. So don't be offended if anyone from DST politely declines to get in your car.

Mounts too far gone? Don't worry

Now this voided mounts issue sometimes can be solved with synthetic elastomer inserts, which Whiteline has available for these models in part number KDT918. However for some of you, unfortunately, your cross member mounts are too far gone. But don't worry Whiteline has you covered for that as well: part number KDT917 is a complete synthetic elastomer bushing for the rear cross member of your BMW.

Performance

Instead of sliding into the existing mounts like the inserts, the KDT917 complete bushings will replace these mounts altogether. This kit leans more to the performance side of applications, but they aren't necessarily only for racing your BMW. The bushings in KDT917 perform even better than the inserts, eliminating excess lateral movement and rocking, as wells as reducing that annoying wheel hop. Whiteline recommends installing the KDT917 if the conditions of your factory bushings are deteriorating or splitting. You wouldn't want to use the inserts if your factory bushings are already failing.

Warranty and Install

Whiteline's KDT917 is considerably more labor-intensive than the inserts, but will also perform better. While the increase in performance is a plus for these bushings, you should expect them to transmit slightly more NVH. Not that you should need it, but these performance bushings are backed by Whiteline's 3-year warranty, which can be handled right here at DST.
