Rear Control Arm Bushings 99-05 Jeep Grand Cherokee | 2001 Jeep Cherokee

These Rear Control Arm Bushings from SuperPro will replace the original rubber control arm bushings for the Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Polyurethane control arm bushings are much more durable than rubber bushings and are better able to hold the alignment angles of your rear wheels. This means your tires will wear more evenly and your tire's contact patch will remain flush with the road during a turn, providing you with better traction.

rear control arm bushings 99-05 jeep grand cherokee

deformed rubber rear control arm bushing

Worn Bushings on Your Jeep

The original rear control arm bushings on your Jeep are made of rubber to absorb as much vibration as possible, but to achieve this the bushings flex and bend. Rubber bushings change shape a little when they bend (deflect) and over time this shape change can become permenant which will allow the alignment of your rear wheels to be changed, especially during a turn.

To fix these problems you can have the alignment adjusted, but if the bushings are hollowed out then that newly corrected alignment will probably be thrown off before you get home. You could get more rubber replacements which will restore your ride but these will eventually wear down as well.

Rear Control Arms and Camber

The camber angle (tilt) of your rear wheels is largely maintained by the rear control arms. When this alignment angle is out of whack your tires will be riding on their edge instead of on the contact patch like they're designed to. This will cause your tires to wear unevenly and require replacement sooner than necessary. Thrown off camber can also affect the amount of traction that you have during a turn.

Whether you're going to tackle all the best off-road trails that Texas has to offer, or you don't want to slide out when taking a corner at speed these bushings will help keep your rear tires flat against your driving surface.

vertical pivot rear control arm bushings

Vertical Pivot Bushing Articulation

For vertical pivot bushings like these, articulation is important and rubber is traditionally better than polyurethane in this department since the material is softer and able to flex when your suspension travels. But SuperPro has engineered the center of these bushings to allow for articulation to give the same freedom of movement as a rubber bushing but without the shape changing wear that deforms the original bushings.

If you enjoy wheeling your Jeep then the suspension is going to travel a lot, so having a stronger bushing that also allows your suspension to move like it needs to is a double win.

Longer Lasting Performance

Polyurethane rear control arm bushings not only last longer than rubber but they also do a better job of holding the alignment angles of your Jeep. Since the rear control arms are held a little more rigid you will notice more vibration making its way to the cabin of your Jeep, but if you weigh this against the longer tire life and improved handling that polyurethane provides you're getting a pretty good trade.

Heat, motor chemicals, and road salts can begin to degrade rubber over time and accelerate the rate at which they wear down. Polyurethane is all but immune to the elements and is covered by SuperPro's exceptional lifetime warranty that also covers off-road and racing applications.

I ordered these to replace the stock bushings on the Iron Rock Offroad rear upper control arm. I have this arm on a Jeep Liberty with a custom bracket. These bushings fit perfect, and I really wish they would have come in the arm from the beginning. They make the arm a bit stiffer and thats good. I have already given the part number to a friend who uses the same arm. I have also let a friend who is building our brackets know about these as well. Should be getting some more orders from us KJ guys.

They took a few hours to install each side. Both my stock bushing had completely failed from the blade so minimal work was needed prepping the blade for the bushing. Used a manual arbor press to put the new bushings in, which definitely took some\nMuscle. Feel is stiff which is nice. Not worried about failure anymore.

I replaced these as an overall suspension upgrade for my daily driver. I had put in another brands bushings and they were overkill. These SPs are a bit softer and engineered to "play nice" with the rest of the suspension while improving rear suspension stability. I am considering another pair of these for the trailing arm chassis mounts. Check out the very good you-tube video about the design differences between these and the competing brand. I drive a MkV Jetta TDi with GLi springs, Koni adjustables, and 26mm rear sway bar. -and it doesnt understeer any more!
4 out of 5 - excellent fit and too soon to comment on durability

compared to pushing out original thin sleeves, installation was exceptionally easy, Honda service manual said the bolts were 12x1.25 however they are 14x1.25 or 1.50. Should be the last control arm work for a while, and made an exceptional ride in an older vehicle
5 out of 5 - excellent aftermarket product to replace worn originals
